The Residents Tahoe — You Gotta See These Guys Live
Honestly? I didn’t know what I was getting into the first time I heard The Residents Tahoe. But the second they started playing I was singing along. That’s just what they do to you.
The Band
These guys are the real deal. South Lake Tahoe’s own, playing shows in and around the area since 2020. They do classic covers that everybody knows and loves, but their original songs are something else. Like genuinely stop-you-in-your-tracks kind of stuff.
Here’s who’s in the band:
Ted Kennedy handles lead vocals and acoustic guitar. He’s the guy who writes the originals and trust me, you feel every word.
Jon Sills plays cello. Yeah, cello in a live rock band. It works. It really works.
Chris Seal plays guitar, harmonica, fiddle and sings too. The guy does it all.
Gentry Monasmith is on drums and percussion, locks the whole thing down every single night.
Tanner Morgan also plays drums. Marine. The guy who inspired Freedom Ain’t Free by reminding everyone that Memorial Day isn’t about hot dogs, it’s about the people who gave everything.
Jeff Connor on vocals and keys brings so much to the sound it’s hard to put into words.
Tommy Ciccone on vocals and bass, keeping it groovy and keeping it fun.
Dan Rassp plays keys, horns, and honestly whatever else needs playing. The guy is ridiculous.
I Got to Play With Them
I had the pleasure of learning drums and the honor of actually practicing live at some venues with the Residents. And then, Fourth of July at the Hard Rock Casino, I got up there and played the cajon with the band while fireworks were going off outside.
I don’t have words for that night. You just had to be there.
